Five steps from starting to your detailed band score.
Pick a single module (Reading, Listening, Writing, or Speaking) or start a complete full mock test covering all four in one sitting. Full test takes 2 hours 45 minutes - same as the real exam.
If you're applying to a university, choose Academic. If you're applying for immigration, a work visa, or a secondary school, choose General Training. Reading and Writing differ between the two; Listening and Speaking are the same.
The interface enforces the exact same time limits as the real IELTS. You cannot pause or extend time. This matters - exam-day time pressure is itself a skill that only mock tests can train.
Reading and Listening are scored instantly from your answers. Writing and Speaking AI evaluation is returned within 30–60 seconds: a band score for each module plus criterion-level feedback.
See model answers for Writing. Read your Speaking transcript with fluency and vocabulary annotations. Every wrong Reading/Listening answer links to an explanation. This review phase is where real improvement happens.
IELTS uses a 9-band scale. Each module is scored individually; your overall band is the mean of all four modules rounded to the nearest 0.5.
| Band | Level | Typical use case |
|---|---|---|
| 9 | Expert | Native-level fluency · highest academic & professional roles |
| 8–8.5 | Very Good | Top universities (Oxford, Cambridge, MIT) · senior roles |
| 7–7.5 | Good | Most UK/Australia/Canada universities · skilled migration |
| 6–6.5 | Competent | Undergraduate entry · some postgrad · working visas |
| 5–5.5 | Modest | Foundation programmes · some vocational visas |
| < 5 | Basic | Continued study recommended before retesting |

Most candidates take mock tests the wrong way. These are the patterns that actually move the score.
Don't wait until you feel 'ready'. Your first mock sets an honest baseline. Without it, you don't know which module to prioritise. Students who delay their first mock waste 2–3 weeks studying the wrong things.
Spend 60+ minutes reviewing every wrong answer in Reading and Listening. For Writing, read the model answer carefully and identify the three most specific differences from your response. These three things are your next week's practice focus.
Daily mocks don't work - your brain needs time to consolidate what it learned. The optimal cycle: mock test → 7 days of targeted practice on your weakest module → next mock test.
Four mocks is the minimum to see a real trend and build exam stamina. Six is ideal if you have 8+ weeks of preparation time. More than 6 in a short period is diminishing returns - study beats more mocking.
Physical timer (not digital). Headphones in. No phone. No interruptions. The simulation effect - learning to maintain 2.5 hours of concentration - is a trainable skill that only comes from treating every mock as real.
Not the night before. You need time to review results and enter the exam rested. If your final mock reveals a weakness 12 hours before the test, you cannot fix it - it only creates anxiety.
